This week in Hip Hop, 50 Cent and Meek Mill’s rift packed the headlines with the largely social media-fueled beef gaining the attention of various cultural personalities including The Game. The Compton, California rapper questioned what contemporary Rap beefs entail, referencing the string of on-wax feuds that took place in Hip Hop’s more formative years. The rift appeared to have taken a pause earlier this week when Meek Mill asked 50 Cent to help raise awareness of Flint, Michigan’s dire water situation but Fif’ has thus far refused to relent his onslaught.
The Game Weighs In On 50 Cent, Meek Mill Beef
In an Instagram post uploaded earlier this week, The Game offered his two cents on the rift between 50 Cent and Meek Mill.

“So, this is what it’s come to these days ???” The Game wrote on IG under a photo featuring a play on The Notorious B.I.G.’s “What’s Beef?” lyrics. “Outside of 2pac & B.I.G. dying because their beef got out of control due to the media blowing it out of proportion & us as people adding fuel to the fire with the whole East Coast/West Coast bullshit….
“Hip hop beefs were healthy,” The Game continued, “& consisted of rap battles between dope M.C.’s like the legendary KRS-One & Busy Bee beef, the Nas & Jay-Z beef, The Real Roxanne & Roxanne Shante beef, the Ice Cube & N.W.A. Beef, Bone Thugs & The Dogg Pound beef, G-Unit & Murder Inc, shit even me & 50’s beef & the list goes on….”
50 Cent and Meek Mill’s feud began late last week when the G-Unit frontman took to Instagram to respond to Meek Mill’s subliminal shots on “Gave Em Hope,” a cut off the Philly rapper’s recently released EP, 4-4.

Late last week, 50 Cent took to Instagram to respond to Meek Mill’s subliminal shots on “Gave Em Hope,” a cut off the Philly rapper’s recently released EP, 4-4.

Throughout the track, Meek Mill references 50’s financial situation and mocks the rapper’s relationship with Floyd “Money” Mayweather, Jr.
“You popping shit on your Instagram,” Meek Mill raps. “Shit that you’re popping ain’t adding up / Shit that you’re popping ain’t making sense / I got 50 reasons say you’re taking dick / And it’s 50 reasons I should kill, nigga / But, for real, nigga, I been taking trips with my Philly niggas / Got the richest chick, she’s from your hood / Niggas hating on me, I ain’t really tripping, shit, I’m good / I be in the 40 with the .40 on me like I should / I be deep in your ‘hood where you never be at / Be with them guys that you never could never dap / You could never adapt / You know the game, if you cosign a rat, you forever a rat / We were never with that / You tried to go ‘Money’ May with that paper, but now you in debt cause you never was that / Fuck is you high? After becoming aware of the apparent diss, 50 Cent took to Instagram to offer up a response.

A back-and-forth between the two artists ensued, with Meek Mill commenting on allegations that 50 Cent is a snitch.

Meek Mill Asks 50 Cent To Join Him In Donating To Flint, Michigan’s Water Crisis; 50 Cent Responds
In light of their recent feud, a Twitter user asked both Meek Mill and 50 Cent to focus their energies on helping the City of Flint, Michigan in lieu of trading incessant shots at one another online.

“I got 50k to donate to waters,” Meek Mill wrote in the caption field of the post, which featured a screenshot of RaspyRawls’ tweet. “Let’s see if we can have @50cent match me! I’m pretty sure ‘flint’ supported us! Serious post contact …. Roc nation will purchase for me and ship! Not even just him all entertainers! I ain’t got the tine posting memes and shit… ‘Way too trill for that’ @dallaslifestyle it’s my dawg hometown too! #FORMLKDAY.”
50 Cent later responded to Meek Mill’s post.
