Wale announced yesterday (January 12) that his forthcoming album will be titled Shine and that it will be released this year, according to a video posted on The White House’s YouTube page.
The MMG rapper made the proclamation while performing at the Pre-Show for President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address.
“Performed at the “State of the Union” .. #SOTU.. #shine on the universe . HipHop is limitless . Thank You @WhiteHouse@BarackObama,” Wale wrote on Twitter yesterday.

The Washington, D.C. rapper performed “Chillin,” “LoveHate Thing” and “White Shoes” at the event.
Wale, who also posted a video of himself shaking hands with Vice President Joe Biden, is the first rapper to open a State Of The Union address.
