Jay Z has made a name for himself not only through rapping, but also through, among other things, his Roc Nation management company. Rihanna, Kanye West, Big Sean and radio personality Angie Martinez have all spent time on Roc Nation’s roster. He also acts as a sports agent for the likes of Kevin Durant and Dez Bryant.

Jay Z says that he can also help One Direction’s Harry Styles create a successful solo career.

“I would love to sign Harry,” Jay Z says to Daily Star, noting that he would be happy to work with Simon Cowell, who helped discover the group via the United Kingdom’s X Factor. “Simon is going to want to carry on working with him, of course. But we could do a joint venture – we both have big qualities we can bring to the table. And Harry can make more than enough money for everybody to get a piece of the pie.”

One Direction announced they were going on hiatus this year after releasing its fifth album in November. Jay Z emphasizes the need for Styles to get away from the band.

“Harry doesn’t need any help with exposure,” Jay Z says. “Everybody in the world knows who he is. But he does need to make the transition from being part of a group to becoming an individual artist.”
