OutKast has performed at many big stages including Coachella, The Grammys and even Nickelodeon. In a recent interview with ESPN’s The Dan LeBatard Show, Big Boi revealed that he and Andre 3000 were asked to perform at one of the biggest televised events in the United States.

“We were supposed to perform at the Super Bowl,” he says, “but we had two songs, ‘The Way You Move’ and ‘Hey Ya’ and Dre didn’t want to split the songs up. He didn’t want to cut the songs. He wanted to do both songs. They was like, ‘Y’all can’t do it.”

Big Boi says he tried “a lot” to convince 3 Stacks to cut the songs so OutKast could perform, but he wouldn’t budge.

“To this day, he’s like, his son tells him, ‘Dad, you should’ve performed at the Super Bowl,'” he says. “We look at it now, we laugh, but hopefully they’ll invite us back.”

When asked about the difficulty of working with Andre 3000, Big Boi says that their friendship transcends the music.

“He’s like my brother so I grew up with him,” Big Boi says. “I slept on his bedroom floor when we were in high school when I moved to Atlanta. It’s bigger than music with us. It ain’t all about the big things. We still have a close bond to this day.”
