Jay Rock’s 90059 album includes “Vice City,” a track with fellow Black Hippy members Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul and ScHoolboy Q. Various members have addressed the possibility of a group album. Jay Rock shares his thoughts with HotNewHipHop.

“Ain’t no Black Hippy Album coming,” he says, smiling. “I’m tired of y’all keep asking me about Black Hippy. For real, everybody’s working right now. It’s up to the fans. It’s up to y’all. Y’all make the decisions. When the time right, you might get a Black Hippy album.”

Last year, Top Dawg Entertainment CEO Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith said there was a Black Hippy album in the works.  Ab-Soul had previously shut down the idea.

In the new interview, Jay Rock says ScHoolboy Q is the next Top Dawg artist slated to release a project. He also says Isaiah Rashad is working on the follow-up to Cilvia Demo.

Jay Rock also details working with Busta Rhymes, who appears on the 90059 cut “Fly on the Wall.”

“I worked with Busta back in the days, shoutout to the OG Busta Rhymes,” he says. “He had jumped on one of my mixtapes years ago. Shoutout to DJ Kay Slay. I was always doing the freestyles on Kay Slay’s show and Kay Slay told him, ‘This boy can spit.’ And he reached out. He was in LA, we linked up, I had this record and he jumped on it. We’ve just been cool ever since. Every time he see me, he salute me. It’s always been love.”
