Saigon was one of the top up-and-coming rappers during the early-to-mid 2000s and after receiving cosigns from Just Blaze, among others, it seemed like he would be next at the time.

During a recent interview with Doggie Diamonds TV, the Brooklyn native details how his problems with Atlantic Records started when he created the song “Pain In My Life” featuring Trey Songz. It would set his career back a bit as his debut album wouldn’t be released until years later.

“The label was like no, no, no. I’m like, ‘What you mean no?’ My people need this this is why I’m here,” he explained when asked about the Atlantic situation. “They were like, ‘No, we won’t support this.’ I’m like what do you mean? Trey Songz is a superstar this shit is hot, etc. They wouldn’t support it and that’s when I realized I was at war.”

Saigon also talked about his beef with Prodigy and says while it never officially ended he respects P.

“I play Prodigy’s music in my car more than my own,” he said. “I was driving around and I’m like, ‘I been listening to Murda Muzik for three weeks straight.’ I don’t play my own shit this much because I grew up fucking with Mobb Deep… Me and Prodigy was cool before that. It’s just that I didn’t understand that we only cool when it’s me and you or with Alchemist, then we we 50 deep there’s a problem again. I’m not fake like that.”
