In a segment titled “Tip Responds to Genius Interpretations of His Lyrics,” Vanity Fair caught up with T.I. to get his thoughts on fan’s interpretations of his lyrics.

Among the songs the Atlanta, Georgia rapper addressed were “Whatever You Like,” “Swagger Like Us,” and “About The Money.”

In response to one Genius user who interpreted T.I.’s “You can go see Weezy for the wordplay, Jeezy for the bird play” lyric on “Swagger Like Us” as referring to Jay Z moving cocaine, T.I. clarified the meaning of the lyric, which he says doesn’t refer to Jay.

“I’ve never known Jay Z to call himself or ever be called Jeezy,” T.I. said. “So, definitely talking about Young Jeezy. ‘Bird play,’ it could be a reference to one’s assumed distribution of some illegal substance or another. Maybe. I will not confirm nor deny any allegations. But you’re on the right track.”

One Genius user did put forth an accurate interpretation of T.I.’s “My watch flooded, shit sick, got Parvo” line on “About The Money,” according to the rapper.

The user’s interpretation read as follows: “T.I. flooded his watch with diamonds, making it look as “sick” (awesome) as parvo – a highly contagious disease that most commonly affects dogs.”
