A member of Rihanna’s camp says that he made up the rumor about Jay Z and Rihanna being an item in order to bring attention to the singer, according to Radar Online.
The revelations are reportedly included in Becoming Beyonce, a book by celebrity journalist J. Randy Taraborrelli.
“Beyonce wasn’t sure she could trust Jay when it came to his adamant denials,” Taraborrelli writes in the book, which is due October 27. “She couldn’t help but be skeptical.”

Jay Z and Beyonce’s elevator altercation at the 2014 Met Gala was reportedly spawned by the rapper’s suggestion that he and Beyonce attend a party Rihanna was hosting, Taraborrelli writes in Becoming Beyonce.
Jay Z and Beyonce also reportedly had issues in 2005 regarding Beyonce’s dedication to her work.
“He felt that she was too concerned with [work] and overwhelmed by it,” Taraborrelli writes in Becoming Beyonce. “She also had a tendency to become moody and defensive when under great work pressure, and it had begun to drive a wedge between her and Jay.”
