Insane Clown Posse won big when it comes to vindicating themselves and their following known as the “Juggalos.” The Federal Bureau of Investigations recently deemed the group an “organized gang.”
According to Rolling Stone, a federal appeals court ordered that a Michigan court hear the case attempting to clear the group of one that participates in serial violent activity.
The appeal, which was filed by the American Civil Liberties Union of Michigan, was originally dismissed in January 2014 for its inability to prove “injuries suffered.” The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit in Cincinnati, however ultimately overturned that decision Thursday, according to NBC News. ICP released a statement after the court ruling thankful for their vindication.

“We’re thankful that the Juggalo family will finally get their day in court,” the duo said on their website. “Discrimination against someone based solely upon the type of music they listen to is just flat out wrong and it’s time that the legal system acknowledges that. The FBI’s labeling of Juggalos as a gang has wreaked havoc on thousands of lives, resulting in job losses, dismissal from military service, eviction, lost child custody and constant harassment and profiling from law enforcement organizations all across the country.”
In 2011, the F.B.I. published a “National Gang Threat Assessment: Emerging Trends” report. In it included a section describing Juggalos as “a loosely organized hybrid gang” whose members were “expanding into many U.S. communities.” That report laid the foundation for the lawsuit ICP filed at the time.
