Recently, video was unearthed of Post Malone, who is white, using the N-word and a subsequent backlash began.

Many on social media, both media figures and fellow rappers, either scolded their colleague or came to his defense. Regardless of whether overreaction occurred or not, Malone decided to take to a few different mediums to explain himself. Recently appearing on Shade 45 with DJ Drama, the Dallas rapper apologized and also offered an explanation.

“It’s unacceptable and I made a mistake. I just wanna apologize,” he said when asked about the video in the Gangsta Grillz radio open. “I guess that’s really it. I can’t really say nothing. It was wrong of me.”

Post Malone also took to Twitter to make clear that this incident isn’t going to deter his dreams of being a musician and addressed his “haters.” “Hi Twitter. people have been trying to bring me down lately. I’m just here to say, it’s not gonna happen.”
