A high school football coach who goes by the stage name Big Pho, has been fired from his coaching job after one of his music videos was discovered by a co-worker.

The coach, Otis Newell, recently spoke with Los Angeles, California-based news station KTLA about his music video, titled “U Need It I Got It,” being discovered by a fellow coach at Simi Valley High School.

Although Newell makes several references to drugs on the song, he says the song is actually about hustling.

“I used football to get me out of my situation,” Coach Otis Newell said. “I moved out of Watts, California. I got me a full scholarship. I have two degrees…He couldn’t believe what he was seeing. It was unbelievable to him—what he was seeing on the music video. And I asked him ‘What do you mean?’ My message in the song is that you need to have hustle to actually make it in this world.”

At the start of “U Need It I Got It,” Newell raps, “If you need it I got it / I stay with the product / Got pills, dope, and marijuana / Weed so strong make you pause like a comma.”

Despite receiving support from former students who moved on to college with full or half scholarships, it appears that Newell may not receive his coaching job back.

According to Newell, an email from the school district stated that they never questioned his character, but are also unable to support the images in his “U Need It I Got It” video.
