The history of rappers getting things stolen from them is extensive. The history of them coming up with anything other than marijuana and other drugs is not as long, but that’s exactly what happened to J. Cole recently.

Performing at the Bassmnt in San Diego over the weekend, during the after party for that stop on the 2014 Forest Hill Drive tour, the North Carolina-based artist was strolling through his set when an audience member, for whatever reason, hurled a phone at him, hitting him in the face. A video posted of the occurrence then shows Cole reaching down for the phone after it hit the ground and pocketing it.

It is unclear whether the person who threw the phone at him ever got it back. Best guess would assume they didn’t.
