Chicago rapper Mikey Dollaz recently detailed the making of his “Im Da Plug 2” record in an exclusive conversation with HipHopDX’s Justin Hunte.

“I did ‘I’m The Plug 1’ and it ain’t really get a lot of views like it was supposed to but I got a lot of feedback and a lot of people were telling me to do a number two,” Mikey Dollaz said during an interview that premiered in yesterday’s DX Daily (July 2). “I’m more developed now [so] I really wanted to do it the same way but my style that I’m using now, so that’s how that really came about.”

Mikey Dollaz—who has only been rapping for the past two-and-a-half years—also discussed how he’s gained strong recognition despite his relatively short timespan making music.

“Really it’s like my work ethic,” he says. “I work a lot, bro. I really [don’t] get any sleep. I work a lot from studio sessions to videos, shows [and] all that, bro. I just work. If I don’t have no shows or nothing booked, I try to find a way to get in the studio or get paid to walk in a club and promote the club. Anything to keep me going really. I work real hard and then I’m real passionate about it. There’s a lot of guys out here just making music, just doing anything and getting away with it because they got certain people behind them or money behind them. I ain’t got no money behind me, I ain’t really got a lot of people behind me but the people in my circle, I was really turning up basically.”
