Inspectah Deck says that among some of the newer artists he listens to are J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar.
“I’m not really bumping nobody’s mixtape or nothing like that but I did listen to J. Cole’s new album,” Inspectah Deck said during a recent interview with VladTV. “I been listening to Kendrick Lamar’s new album.”
The Wu-Tang member was then asked to choose between J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar.

“I like them both,” Inspectah Deck explained. “I like Kendrick because Kendrick is keeping that spirit alive of trying to educate and teach people, man. I feel in the next couple of years, he’s gonna be one of the top dudes because just the attitude he got. [It’s] the same thing [with] J. Cole. I put him a little over Kendrick because he’s been doing it for a little longer. It’s soul music, man. I listen to their music and I feel myself. I listen to their lyrics and what they write and it reminds me of me, to just go deeper than the average emcee. Salute to the younger generation, man. I didn’t like y’all at first ‘cause I thought they were just about a bunch of stupid shit.”
