Tyler, The Creator released his third studio album, Cherry Bomb, in April and is now touring.

“Everything’s so good right now,” the 24-year-old says in an interview with Village Voice. “I love everything. I’m not as negative anymore. I guess that’s just how it is growing up.”

The rapper says that people misunderstood Cherry Bomb and his change in attitude.

“I feel like a lot of people wasn’t really fucking with it, saying it wasn’t personal,” he says. “But this album is really personal. It’s just that I’m not doing it in a dark, depressing, ‘I want to kill myself’ way anymore.”

The West Coast rapper says that he hopes other people can find their own happiness, too.

“I just wish more people could maybe just smile,” he says. “I know it’s not easy. Being depressed is a mental thing, so me telling people to ‘just smile’ could be like a dick move.”
