During a newly-published interview with Vlad TV, Immortal Technique was asked to share his opinion on the recent, feminine trends in Hip Hop. In response, the Harlem, New York rapper explained that it’s not his place to tell someone what to do with their lives.
Technique did later point out that people feel the effemination of people of color, as reported by the media, is a ploy to make men of color look less dangerous.
“I don’t worry about what other people do with their personal time,” Immortal Technique said. “If somebody’s gonna give me fashion advice and tell me ‘I should be doing that.’ That’s probably not a good idea because I’m not gonna react well to it. But I can’t tell other people how to live they life. I can’t pretend that I can stand in judgement over other people…I would just say that if I’m in a position where I see someone whose lifestyle or something about them I don’t agree with, I think that I look at it more about ‘What am I offended by that this person is doing? Is this person’s actions somehow affecting me?’ People blame the effemination of people of color on media because they say they wanna make us less dangerous to people. They wanna make us—They wanna almost castrate the strength of men of color.”

The rapper went on to stress that he doesn’t judge anyone based on the way they live their life. Instead, he explained that his primary concern is making young men aware of “what it means to be a man.”
“I’m not here to judge nobody else’s life,” he said. “I’m not here to pass that. I’m not claiming to be somebody else’s Lord and savior. So, I can’t tell them how to dress or how to act. I can only inform the young brothers around me, what it means to be a man. And that is to take care of your responsibilities. Take care of your family. To make sure that the necessities in life are fulfilled before your wants.”
