During an interview with Los Angeles-based radio station Real 92.3, 50 Cent was asked why he wasn’t one of the artists involved in the TIDAL launch months ago.

The Queens, New York rapper didn’t reveal why he wasn’t present, but did state that the launch could have been “more exciting” had those at TIDAL reached out. He also added that since he’s now an independent artist, the possibility of having worked with TIDAL on something for their launch, was very much an option.

“Probably we could’ve did something more exciting if they reached out,” 50 Cent said. “Because the people that you saw there don’t even own the rights to their music. So, they can’t say ‘It’s just gonna come out on TIDAL.’ It has to go everywhere. So, why would you actually buy TIDAL to get something that would be everywhere else…I’m a free agent. I could have did something—made something special [for] TIDAL.”

Prior to speaking on TIDAL, 50 Cent cleared up misconceptions that he’s not a fan of the “Empire” cast. He went on to explain that despite the fact that “they did steal the idea” from “Power,” he likes the cast of the Fox television series.

“I don’t think people know that I actually like the cast of ‘Empire.’ They did steal the idea,” he said. “The talent that’s on there, I wanna see them be successful. My first film, I worked with Terrence Howard. He’s the lead of the show. I wanna see him have success. And then Taraji, she’s cool.”
