Among the plethora of artists credited on A$AP Rocky’s At.Long.Last.A$AP album is Puerto Rico-born music producer/engineer/DJ, Hector Delgado. HotNewHipHop.com recently caught up with Delgado, who also serves as co-executive producer of Rocky’s latest album, to obtain details on how the musician first linked up with the A$AP Mob lyricist.

According to Delgado, he first began working with A$AP Rocky on his debut album, Long.Live.ASAP. He says he then became the Harlem, New York rapper’s musical director and has worked with Rocky ever since.

“…I started working as Rocky’s engineer and we started collaborating on music– that’s how ‘Suddenly’ ‘Fashion Killa’ & ‘Jodye’ came about…I became Rocky’s musical director and DJ along with JScott on tour, and from there we started recording on the studio bus and continued to work ever since,” Delgado said.

In addition to A$AP Rocky, the Los Angeles, California-based beatsmith has also worked on projects from Tinashe, G-Eazy, and ScHoolboy Q.

In regards to working with ScHoolboy Q, Delgado says he’s the only non-TDE artist who has had the opportunity to work with the “very tight nit group” of artists.

“It was an honor to work on the ScHoolboy Q project, I am lucky enough to be one of the only outside people to work with TDE since they’re a very tight nit group,” he said. “Mixed By Ali from TDE actually helped us on A.L.L.A., we have a great relationship, it’s about making great art. I’m happiest doing music and creating art in any form whether it be DJing, producing or engineering.”
