Coke Boys rapper Chinx (born Lionel Pickens) was shot and killed in Queens early this morning (May 17), according to a statement from his management group.

Chinx, who was 31 at the time of his death, was a part of French Montana’s Coke Boys collective and appeared frequently on a series of mixtapes titled Coke Boys and released his own mixtape series called Cocaine Riot.

Details on his murder remain scarce but the emcee was reportedly inside a vehicle in the Jamaica section of Queens when he was shot by a still-unknown gunman, according to AllHipHop.

“Chinx was one of the most talented, professional, and determined rappers this industry had to offer,” said Legion Media Group publicist Chanel Rae. “Further more, he was a friend.”

Just last week Chinx was featured on a new song released by MeetSims. Listen to that track, “Rounds,” here.

Shortly after his death, rappers and producers took to social media to mourn the Coke Boys rapper.

Smdh…#Unbelievable!!!
