On Monday (May 11), Taylor Swift announced that Kendrick Lamar is set to star in her cinematic-style music video “Bad Blood.”

She also revealed a host of other celebrities – Zendaya, Lena Dunham, Ellie Goudling – will be featured in the Joseph Kahn-directed visual as well. Each of the characters chose their own names, Swift Tweeted.

The moniker K. Dot chose isn’t exactly original. Kendrick took to Twitter to explain why he chose the name Welvin Da Great.

“I chose my Compton Boy Welven as King,” he wrote. “Always had personality. Confidence and self love making it out the city. Hero.”

Lamar is referring to the Vine entertainer known as WelvenDaGreat. The man who coined the term, “Got eem.”

Upon noticing the recognition by Kendrick, Welven took to Instagram to clarify for his followers that the rapper had chosen to portray him in Swift’s video.
