Jay Z Calling TIDAL Subscribers


TIDAL users have been receiving calls from the music streaming service’s new owner, Jay Z.

The site’s executive Vania Schlogel recently told Business Insider that the Hip Hop mogul has been calling people who are using TIDAL.

“He called some of his fans and one of them made the funniest comment,” Schlogel said. “He said, ‘This is the best customer service call I’ve ever received.'”

Jay Z isn’t the only artist affiliated with TIDAL that has been making direct calls to fans.

Schlogel says that Jack White and a few other artists have gotten in on the act, as well.

Each artist that has aligned with the brand has been given their own accounts on the site. These profiles allow artists to see exactly who is listening to their music and analyze statistics regarding their album’s performance. User’s contact information is available to the artists, which means personal phone calls or e-mails can occur.

Basically, stans have been on their nu=* t sack all this time but now they can really prove it by listening to their songs all day like a robot, and in return they are "hoping" their fav artist would contact them, which they are not going to.

I think a good business should protect the personal information of it's customers. Limit who has access to that information to as few people as possible. That's one of the advantages of purchasing something through a third party.

thats a fucking awesome marketing strategy. all the people in this comment section are a bunch of player haters. like it or not, music streaming sites like spotify will potentially be a multi billion dollar industry, and that is what hov is shooting for with this one. it may or may not work out, but if you are going to get rich, you need to have a business model and infrastructure that supports your goals.

If you are streaming a certain artist album, that artist can see your information. For example, Daft Punk would see [John] [Doe] was playing their songs all day today, and they could contact him IF they wanted to... Basically, stans have been on their nu=* t sack all this time but now they can really prove it by listening to their songs all day like a robot, and in return they are "hoping" their fav artist would contact them, which they are not going to.

Music Exec #1: Hmmm the numbers aren't looking as good as we thought. How can we create more excitement? Music exec #2: I know, lets have Jay call a few of the stans that pay $20 a month. Then we'll pay some websites to put out a story about it. Music exec #1: Perfect! If we make the stans think their favorite artist might call them any time... we're guaranteed to get more subscribers. Jay: I'll do whatever it takes guys.
