Spike Lee has reportedly tapped Kanye West and Common to star in a new film about the rappers’ hometown of Chicago.

The film has been dubbed Chiraq and is expected to cover the rampant violence within the city that has made headlines across the country for some years.

Lee has also recruited actors Jeremy Piven and Samuel L. Jackson for his forthcoming film.

According to The WrapAmazon Studios has already picked up the movie.

Details are sparse, at the moment, as a majority of the prospective cast hasn’t signed contracts.

The gun violence in Chicago was recently highlighted on the CNN series Chicagoland. Last year, Noisey put together a docu-series featuring several of the rising rappers within the “Chiraq” community.
