After waiting more than two hours to purchase a pair of Tyga’s new L.A. Gear sneaker collaboration at a Hollywood meet-and-greet event, a man slyly served the “Rack City” rapper a court summons upon meeting the artist.

TMZ captured footage of a man who identified himself as “Cal” serve Tyga the legal papers after getting his shoes signed and then get his picture taken with the visibly flustered Cali emcee. While the process server declined to share the reason for the summons he did hint that the papers likely stemmed from a civil nonpayment dispute. “It’s not a charge,” he told a TMZ cameraman after leaving the event, “he’s not paying somebody, so I don’t know.”

As for the shoes themselves, Tyga’s L.A. Gear Liquid Gold sneakers are the first of four planned collaborations with the company and build on the brand’s familiar light-up model with a shiny gold exterior.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter about the drop, Tyga explained his own personal history with L.A. Gear.

“I was still really young when L.A. gear was at its peak so I didn’t have a chance to experience wearing them,” he said. “But I remember seeing commercials and stuff and thought a shoe that lit up was just so dope. The light-ups are going to be one of the designs we launch with because they are the OG’s, but I’m designing a bunch of other styles from running shoes to skate-type shoes so we’re about to come with some heat!”
