Dame Dash threw shade today (March 23) at Complex Magazine and fashion designer/entrepreneur Marc Ecko, the founder/CEO of Marc Ecko Enterprises.

On Instagram, Dash calls Ecko “the fashion version of Lyor Cohen,” claiming that Ecko’s business model is to “make money off of urban people.” He also deplored Ecko’s fashion designs that became “corny fast” and bewaring that Ecko “thinks he’s gonna do it again with content.”

In full disclosure, DX is a member of the Complex Network. HipHopDX is owned by Cheri Media and is part of the Complex Ad Network, which helps facilitate HipHopDX securing ads on the site.

Complex funds artists to premiere music videos on ComplexTV. Two such artists are Run The Jewels and The Dipset. These acts premiere their videos on Complex and air them through the network exclusively for six months.

The DD172 art gallery founder/former Rocafella Records CEO’s social media commentary today also targets Vlad TV founder/curator DJ Vlad. Dash questioned whether artists are being compensated for their content on VladTV.

“How come they get paid and the artists don’t?” Dash said, citing Vlad’s alleged response to his question. “He said he was doing us a favor promoting our stuff while they got paid…Please don’t try to play the millenial generation.”

Dash then resumed his comments against Ecko: “I’m gonna at least give my culture the information so they don’t get robbed early and he doesn’t own Complex. A hedge fund does. He’s a nerd with a hedge fund who’s business model is ‘rob our culture’ #culturevulture.”

Dash has appeared on Vlad TV in the past and several other online publications discussing his “culture vulture” accusations against former Def Jam President Joie Manda and 300 Entertainment founder/CEO Lyor Cohen.

Dash himself has also been attacked by Power 105’s Breakfast Club co-host Charlamagne The God Diplomats rapper Jim Jones, and Hot 97’s Funkmaster Flex in response to the effect of Dash’s “culture vulture” accusations.
