During a newly-released interview with Vlad TV, DJ Yella offered his thoughts on last month’s deadly hit-and-run involving former Death Row Records CEO, Suge Knight. While DJ Yella was not on the Straight Outta Compton set the day of the incident, he did reveal that he was there the day before.

The Compton, California producer went on to describe the occurrences involving Suge as “nothing new” and added that Suge “shouldn’t have just come by” the day of the film shoot.

“I was there the day before,” DJ Yella said. “It’s nothing new. Nothing new. All the person had to do was just not come by. Whatever it was. But he shouldn’t have just come by. That’s all. You wouldn’t be in this mess…Why be there? That’s the only thing I can say about it.”

When asked to confirm that Dr. Dre and Suge Knight are not friends, DJ Yella responded, “I doubt it…I’m quite sure they’re not.” The N.W.A beatsmith later spoke on the status of his relationship with Suge.

“No,” he said when asked if he’s ever had a relationship with Suge Knight. “I mean, I’ve seen him a few times and that’s it. I don’t wanna know what you do. I don’t care. It ain’t got nothing to do with me. I stay out of drama.”

In late January, Suge Knight was involved in a hit-and-run accident that resulted in the death of his friend, Terry Carter.
