9th Wonder’s celebrated production talents are the center of a new list curated by HotNewHipHop.

The list, titled “10 Essential 9th Wonder Productions,” highlights 10 of 9th Wonder’s most essential productions throughout his famed career.

“North Carolina’s Patrick Douthit isn’t like most hip-hop stars,” HNHH’s article says. “He’s uninterested with chains, fame, cars, clothes and objectifying women. He’s concerned with honoring classic soul music through his sample-based hip-hop beats.”

First up on the list was 9th Wonder’s work behind the keys on Jay Z’s “Threat” off his 2003 project, The Black Album.

“‘Threat’ wasn’t just one of 9th Wonder’s big breaks, but it’s also a compelling story,” the article says.

Also included on the list was 9th Wonder’s work with Little Brother during his tenure with the North Carolina-based group. Mentioned was his production on “Lovin’ It” off their 2005 album, The Minstrel Show.

“9th Wonder produced Little Brother’s first two LPs pretty much in their entirety,” the story says. “One of the cuts off their second album, The Minstrel Show, was ‘Lovin’ It,’ featuring a sample of The Stylistics and plenty of bars from Phonte and Big Pooh.”
