According to former “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta” star Benzino, “an honest mistake” is to blame for his recent arrest at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

TMZ reports that Benzino, (real name Raymond Scott), was arrested at the airport on Tuesday (January 27) after he was caught trying to board his flight with a loaded gun.

The loaded gun was found at security after the former The Source owner put his carry-on bag, which the gun was in, on the conveyor belt at the airport.

A T.S.A. employee then became suspicious of the bag, and upon searching Benzino’s carry-on found a loaded nine millimeter firearm with seven rounds in the magazine.

He was then arrested and sent to a local jail where he was released on $3,000 bail.

Following the ordeal, Benzino addressed the encounter in a post uploaded to Instagram. He explained that he should have checked his bag, but ultimately forgot.

“The gun is registered in my name, it’s a misdemeanor charge and will be dismissed when I go to court,” he explained in a post shared from his account. “I should have checked my bag first but I forgot, not that serious. I thank all of the people who have an open mind and are not so quick to judge. I don’t have a felony on my record.”
