A number of parties are receiving criticism over the decision to let Brooklyn, New York rapper Uncle Murda film two music videos at an abandoned part of the Nassau County Jail in East Meadow, New York. The New York Daily News did not share the names of the two Uncle Murda music videos, but did reveal that they were filmed during a one-day shoot in August of this year.

Despite being filmed in an abandoned area of the jail, the publication reports that jail officers are featured in the backdrop and parts of the video were reportedly filmed in an active recreation yard.

John Jaronczyk, president of the Nassau County Sheriff’s Correction Officers Benevolent Association, is now calling for the person or persons responsible for approving the filming, which generated $570 in fees for the county, be fired.

“This is not a shooting of ‘The Good Wife,’ ” Jaronczyk said, according to the New York Daily News. “Whoever is responsible for this needs to be fired.”

Despite Jaronczyk’s declaration that someone be fired over the matter, county officials have stood behind the decision to allow filming.

“Nassau County expresses no views either in support of, or opposition to, any project or production filmed at locations for private commercial purposes,” Debra Markowitz, director of the county’s film commission, said. “Along the same lines, the county has neither the ability nor the authority to control the content, message or opinion expressed in any such project or production.”

Although it’s unclear what videos were filmed at Nassau County Jail, Uncle Murda did recently release his “Hands Up” music video. The song, which also features Maino, speaks out against police brutality and was released in the wake of two separate grand jury decisions not to indict police officers involved in the deaths of Mike Brown and Eric Garner.
