Weeks after Brooklyn, New York lyricist Maino was accused of assaulting porn actress Mellanie Monroe, the rapper has come forward to offer his side of the story. According to Maino, the accusations made against him are completely untrue.

While speaking with Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club, Maino revealed that since the accusations were made he has to “go through the process.” He also added that the ordeal is “already halfway out the door” and serves as one of the first times he was accused of something when he was completely innocent.

“Let me just tell you this though,” Maino said. “I don’t really [speak] on things that’s not true…But I was in a situation–You know what, let me say this. In my life, anytime I’ve been accused of something, I swear to you I’ve always been at least 30 percent guilty. If somebody said I’ve done something, I’ve done something. Never in my life, until this time here, have I been absolutely 100 percent innocent. But that thing is about to get thrown out. It’s already halfway out the door. I’m just waiting on the call to tell me it’s already finished. The sad part about it is that particular situation, if a woman says that then you have to actually go through the process. So, It doesn’t matter. You can be walking down the street and a woman says ‘Yo, Envy did this, did that.’ They gon’ at least arrest you and you gotta go through the process. Now the truth will come out in the end. But, you know what? Most people don’t hear the truth…I’m not here to make everybody happy. So, the people that believe it is the people that don’t fuck with me anyway.”

In addition to speaking on his ordeal with Mellanie Monroe, Maino clarified that he’s never taken a break from music. He explained that he’s consistently released music over the past few years, but revealed that since there’s no longer a machine behind him his music doesn’t receive the same push as mainstream artists.

“This actually is my second project of the year,” he said. “I’m actually doing more. The problem is that the records haven’t been sticking the way they used to. And that’s only because of the machine that I’ve not had. It’s not that I’ve slowed down the workload. The system hasn’t been able to work for me…Actually, I went from a major to nothing. So, I spent two years just doing me…Since 2012, I was just out here on my own having to figure it out. Now when you appear to need a favor, when you appear to be in need of a favor nobody gives you one. So, I never tried to go get a record deal. So, I had to figure my own thing out and went and did my Mafia thing. And then I came back to doing me earlier this year…I never, ever stopped doing what I do. It’s just that what people don’t understand is that the songs you hear all the time is not because these dudes is better, it’s because there’s marketing dollars being spent on these records.”
