Nas used his verse on ScHoolboy Q’s “Studio” remix to touch on his Def Jam Recordings contract and his final album on the label.

“Finished up my new album / Single about to be dropping / Last album on Def Jam and I got so many options,” Nas rhymes on the track.

Nas’ final album on Def Jam follows an announcement of his running Mass Appeal Records. This year, Nas announced the label and confirmed signing Fashawn, Boldy James, Bishop Nehru and Run The Jewels.

“I’m excited to be a part of creating and supporting future careers and legacy artists, promoting love and finding new genius to help the world,” Nas said at the time of the imprint announcement. “I’m going to be as involved as I need to be, but I also want to be respectful of the art and give artists the space they need to grow and become themselves.”

Mass Appeal Records is set to release a compilation album this year. Fashawn is scheduled to have his The Ecology come after this, as it is slated for a September 30 release date.

In an original interview with Billboard, Nas also revealed that he would release a Lost Tapes 2 project under Mass Appeal.
