With protests ongoing in Ferguson and the ALS ice bucket challenge branching out even further, this week’s Top 10 looks back at some HipHopDX lists from weeks past. After several weeks of on-and-off appearances on the list, a DX curated list of Eminem’s most maniacal bars is back at #1. After its initial release earlier this month, Liv’s diss for Jay Z and Beyonce climbed back to the #2 spot this week. Rounding out the Top 3 is another DX list tracking some Tupac Shakur’s most prophetic raps.
Elsewhere on the list T.I.’s “Stay” claims #4, Dr. Dre does the ALS ice bucket challenge, and a teaser for Lil Wayne’s “Krazy” video is released.
Eminem’s Most Maniacal Bars
In June, HipHopDX gathered a list of the 8 Mile rapper’s most maniacal bars. “Eminem’s wordplay, psychotic lyrics and voice were just a few of the reasons we got into his music during the mid ’90s,” DX’s Michael Trampe wrote in the feature. “In the early part of his career, he was saying things never heard from any other emcee in the game. His delivery, cadence and demeanor were unique, interesting and believable.”

Included in the list are tracks like “3 A.M.,” “My Darling,” “Murder Murder,” and several tracks on which Eminem features.
Liv Disses Jay Z And Beyonce
Rumored to be a mistress of Jay Z, Liv released a song and corresponding video this month dissing both Jay and wife Beyonce. Rapping over the instrumental to OutKast’s 2000 single “Ms. Jackson,” Liv claims that she never had sex with Jay Z but describes an alleged relationship and “[connection] on some Hip Hop shit.” “Fuck fucking to the top, me and Jay never screwed,” she raps, “We connected on some Hip Hop shit / He could be hiself wit me and he dig that shit / Us two attracted like some magnets / And us crossing paths was no accident.”

At the end of the song, Liv blasts Beyonce for the content of her songs and message she extends to “young girls.” “On some real shit, it’s time to tell these young girls some real shit,” she raps, “Tell them how you became a wife / You out here telling ’em how to surfboard / Come on now, surfboards / Monica Lewinsky / You are a married woman / Why don’t you tell these girls how to be wives.”
5 Prophecies In Tupac’s Music
Gathering some of Tupac’s most prophetic lyrics, HipHopDX’s Michael Trampe and Kathy Iandoli broke down five of the rapper’s most fitting examples in a list from May that has crept back up the list.

“Despite any theories we have about Tupac’s passing, his rhymes reflected some cryptic points,” they wrote. “HipHopDX has tallied five of them that actually came true in light of recent reports of Tupac’s last words, plus the above Entertainment Weekly interview clip from 1994 about Pac wanting his homies to smoke his ashes (and they did)— ‘Worst case, in the cemetery, not the cemetery, sprinkled in ashes, smoked up by homies,’ he says when asked about where he will be in 10-15 years.”
