Drake's Social Media Impact During ESPYs Revealed

According to Twitter Reverb, well over 700,000 tweets mentioning Drake and the ESPYs were sent during the awards show.

With Young Money artist Drake serving as the host of the Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Awards (ESPYs) earlier this week, social media, specifically Twitter reportedly welcomed a surge of tweets during the airing of the annual awards show on Wednesday, July 16.

According to Billboard.com, Twitter Reverb, a tool that visualizes “how the conversation unfolds on Twitter,” created a chart highlighting Drake’s most mentioned moments during the ESPYs.

The chart takes into account tweets that mentioned both @Drake and the #ESPYs hashtag. According to Twitter Reverb, there were 718,418 tweets sent mentioning @Drake and #ESPYs.

Among the most mentioned moments were Drake’s spoof video with professional athlete Blake Griffin and crooner Chris Brown (7,600 tweets per minute) and his “Honorable Mentions” (13,351 tweets per minute) and “Side Pieces” (19,550 tweets per minute) performances.

The ESPYs performance that brought in the most tweets per minute for Drake proved to be the Canadian singer/rapper’s “Sterling Never Loved Us” performance with 20,325 tweets per minute.

To explain in detail. You young guys are so funny with your assessment on Drake's impact in the culture. If you want facts, well then lets talk facts. Your favorite pop rapper is sooo far removed from the culture of hip-hop but most people know that. What they don't know is his impact on the American culture. It's a known fact touring tells you where an artist is in the pop/ hiphop culture. The more tickets they sell, the more money they make. Guys like Jay-Z and Eminem are the only artist in hiphop that sell out arenas. Artist like Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Coldplay, Lady Gaga, and Justin Bieber are the highest in terms of revenue in this country. Drake does not sell out arenas. I repeat, he does not sell out arenas let alone host in the big stadiums. All of his concerts are in smaller venues. That doesn't sound like someone who is impacting the culture of America let alone the hiphop culture. So say what you want but the guy is no Jay or Eminem. Never will be... An artist impact now a days peak in the beginning of his career. So I don't see how things will get better for Drake. It just wont.

Nothing less I would expect from rap's current greatest rapper. Drake is the modern day Nas, as well as Jay Z; he's very influential. He's great in every aspect of the word. Not too many rappers have their own day in Houston, starred in a popular Canadian sitcom, or even got hired as a an ambassador for an NBA team & managed to sell a few thousand lint rollers in one night.

"I hate having to dry myself off from my bath just to deconstruct your silly and otherwise retarded argument." Ironically, your arguments are silly and retarded. "You won't find a better story or article because Drake's presence is overwhelmingly influential. He can transform your boy into the man." Yes, I can. I can just look through the news and look for them, he ain't influential. Also, that last sentence is gay. "Eminem aint doing shit, except selling bullshit records, Jay harldy put out his artits like Willow Smith and Jay Electronica, 50'S DOING STRAIGHT TO dvd MOVIES, PUFFY'S WORKING DOING REVOLT TV AKA BET #2 which no one will watch by next year." Eminem is performing at sold-out arenas around the world, Jay Z and 50 Cent are businessmen with multiple ventures, and Revolt is doing fine "I have security camera footage if you dont believe me. Email me @ drakerunsrap@gmail.com and I'll send it to you." It never happened, stanley, and that email is a fake. "The only person jealous of him is you because your a no named fucker who cant do shit except make comments and eat all the food in your moms house." Nobody's jealous of that pussy Jew and you just described yourself. "Did you or did you not read the title of the article? Drake had over 700k tweets during his apperance at the ESPYS. Mpotherfucking influential. He's bound to do greater things than all those guys you mentioned earlier, and when he dies, you'll forget about Tupac." So what? Tweets don't mean anything and isn't influential. Justin Bieber and One Direction have millions of fangirls tweeting dumb shit about them. Drake will never do anything great and no one will forget about Tupac at all.

How can Aubrey run rap if he doesn't even make hip-hop music?

    • Anonymous

So much dickriding in that long ass post and there's no facts or anything logical and unbiased. Drake is not as great as you ,make him out to be. You're just a dickrider. "That's why you'll be hard pressed to find a Drake story every five seconds, because HipHopDX" No, I wouldn't. HHDX do the same shit to other mainstream rap artists all the time. "HipHopDX knows the truth that Drake is an amazing and captivating artist." Wrong. "he's doing big things AND winning." So is Jay Z, Kanye West, Eminem, 50 Cent, Diddy, etc. "nobody has the kind of clout that Drake does, and I mean nobody." Yes. There's not many rappers who become a walking joke like Aubrey. "One look from him and the hoes panties drop quicker than you can blink. I remember one night chilling with Drake and his entourage one night at a strip club in Toronto and he winked at one at one of the dancers. The next thing you know all the strippers come bum rushing us like something straight out of an Axe commercial." You made all of that shit up. "You know why you're all jealous of Drake?? Because Drake can harmonize and is a much more diverse rapper than any rapper I've ever seen, dead or alive." Nobody's jealous of that fag. He can't harmonize at all and he's not that diverse at all. If any rapper's the most diverse, it's Kanye. "He's our generation's Tupac Shakur. Why ,with a little time and effort, he could even surpass surpass both Tupac and Biggie; hell. it seems he has. Drake is so great and interchanagable that sometimes I can't tell if he's Rakim, 2Pac, Biggie, or Nas haha. And that, my friends, is the reason why Drake runs rap and social media." And none of that shit is true at all. This is all blasphemous bullshit that only happens in your wet dreams. Besides, Drake will never run anything.

And thats why you anonymous peons will never have the rap game on lock tighter than he does. That's why you'll be hard pressed to find a Drake story every five seconds, because HipHopDX knows the truth that Drake is an amazing and captivating artist. Yes, other artist might have their own days in different cities, are ambassadors, and can sell merchandise, but fuck them all; they're not Drake. Fuck how much he's worth on Forbes list, too. The point is, he's doing big things AND winning. god damn it. I couldn't care less about the next rapper, nobody has the kind of clout that Drake does, and I mean nobody. One look from him and the hoes panties drop quicker than you can blink. I remember one night chilling with Drake and his entourage one night at a strip club in Toronto and he winked at one at one of the dancers. The next thing you know all the strippers come bum rushing us like something straight out of an Axe commercial. You know why you're all jealous of Drake?? "Not too many rappers have their own day in Houston, starred in a popular Canadian sitcom, or even got hired as a an ambassador for an NBA team & managed to sell a few thousand lint rollers in one night." There's plenty of rappers with their own days in cities, many rappers have starred in popular shows, many rappers have been ambassadors of a sports team (hell, some own teams), and plenty of rappers sell thousands of merchandise in one night. So what Drake is doing means nothing special.

PSYCH. I agree with Anonymous. Fuck this faggot ass stan.

    • Los

I agree with everything you said fucks this sad ass hater

You're wrong about everything, Drake groupie. Drake ain't today's greatest rapper (there's tons of rappers who'll give him a run for his money), he's nothing like Nas or Jay Z, he's not influential, he's not great at anything besides being a fruitcake, and those three things you named are irrelevant as there are rappers who have done bigger things. In short, HOP OFF THE DICK.
