In a new video released by Watch Loud, Dr. Dre speaks on the significance of tonight’s (July 12) Total Slaughter event and Battle Rap more generally.

“Battle Rap was, is, and will always be one of the key elements of Hip Hop,” he says. “I could never get tired of seeing this shit when it’s done right. When nothing else matters but destroying and annihilating the motherfucker standing in front of you. You don’t usually see an established emcee like Joe Budden get involved with a battle like this, especially with somebody as sick as Hollow Da Don. But the shit is going down. This is Hip Hop and this is where you can witness some of the best of the best.”

In addition to the headline Joe Budden and Hollow Da Don match-up, battlers like Murda Mook, Loaded Lux, Daylyt, and T-Rex are scheduled to battle at the event.
