Houston, Texas songstress Beyoncé is still holding strong on the SoundScan charts roughly six months after her self-titled album was released late last year. According to Billboard.com, with a little over 700,000 copies sold this year, album sales for Beyoncé helped the singer top Nielsen SoundScan’s Top 10 Selling R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, Year To Date chart.

On the rap end, Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP 2 secured the #3 spot on SoundScan’s list with 419,000 copies sold this year. Other rappers to make it onto the list include Rick Ross (Mastermind, #4), ScHoolboy Q (Oxymoron, #7), and Drake (Nothing Was The Same, #8).

Despite topping the Top 10 Selling R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, Year To Date chart, neither Beyoncé nor Eminem have singles that rank higher than #5 on the Top 10 Selling R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Songs, Year To Date chart.

The artist who does rank high on both charts is crooner/producer Pharrell Williams whose single “Happy” reached the #1 spot on the Top 10 Selling R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Songs, Year To Date chart with sales for the song at 5,633,000. In addition to that feat, Pharrell’s studio album GIRL clenched the #2 spot on the Top 10 Selling R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, Year To Date chart.

Other artists joining Pharrell on the top digital songs list is John Legend (“All Of Me,” #2), Jason Derulo (“Talk Dirty,” #3), Iggy Azalea (“Fancy,” #4), and Aloe Blacc (“The Man,” #5).

Billboard.com also reports that with the release of Nielsen SoundScan’s R&B/Hip Hop charts, album sales for those two genres are down a sizable 19 percent from last year. This time last year, 23.7 million albums were sold as opposed to this year’s 19.13 million.
