ESPN college basketball analyst Jay Bilas has been a Jeezy fan for a while but has never met the Atlanta-based rapper before.

Recently, Vibe made it possible for Bilas to meet one of his favorite rappers as Jeezy surprised the basketball analyst while he was reciting some of his favorite Jeezy lines.

“The thing that drew me to Jeezy’s music was the hard edge to it and when I mention his name on the air I call him the urban philosopher and it’s poetic,” Bilas said when describing Jeezy and his music. “There’s poetry to it and I’ve always enjoyed it and the hard edge.”

Jeezy talked about first learning that Bilas was a superfan of his and his morning ritual of tweeting his lyrics.

“One of my good friends hit me and was like, ‘You know Jay Bilas?’ And I was like, ‘yeah,’ Jeezy said. “He was like, ‘You know he tweets your lyrics every morning.’ So I was like, ‘Is it the same Jay Bilas I’m thinking?’ And he was like, ‘Yeah.’ And I was like, ‘Show me a picture.’ So he pulled it up on Instagram and showed me and I was like there’s no way. Somebody hacked him [laughs]. But I was impressed and just to see somebody from a whole different walk of life understand my path and use it to motivate themselves every morning is a big deal.”

Since 2011, Jay Bilas has been known for flooding Twitter with Jeezy lyrics. Jeezy even shouted out Bilas on E-40’s “Function” track, on which he was featured. At the end of the segment Bilas named Jeezy the hardest rapper ever followed by Ice-T and Tupac.
