Nas: "To Know Your History Is Everything," Discusses Slavery

Nas: "No one began as a slave. That's not what God put you here for."

Nas emphasizes the importance of history in a clip from Hidden Colors 3: The Rules Of Racism.

"To know your history is everything," Nas says. "No matter who you are, especially Black, because you're constantly being told that you were nothing but a slave. No one began as a slave. That's not what God put you here for."

Nas also addresses the idea of slavery and education on his single, "I Can."

"If the truth is told, the youth can grow," Nas raps on the track. "They learn to survive until they gain control / Nobody says you have to be gangstas, hoes / Read more, learn more, change the globe."

Hidden Colors 3: The Rules of Racism is a new documentary directed by Tariq Nasheed.

The Hidden Colors 3: The Rules Of Racism clip, which also features David Banner, is available on HipHopDX.

The Jayz, Beyonce, Oprah, Puffy of the world... please dont tell me because a couple of silly ass puppets get some money that somehow magically WE now are doing better... half you dummies cant count, if you could you know off top we are in the same boat we got off of. No progress, no power, no control no ownership of anything.... let that marinate for a minute.. WE dont own and control anything..... even with all the big money clowns. we still dont own a thing. Talking about racism is the smart thing to do, bring light to a very dark subject that most people try to ignore, act like it dont exist or simply are playin dumb. But hey dont believe me , take your stupid ass outside and look around..... the comments by some of these young brothas makes me wanna smack some dam sense into em, so they can possibly avoid the bullshit thats headed they way... WE got to do better people... History does repeat itself.. already has a few times.....check your history... learn it or repeat it.. up to you... Ase

Cause the nigga wear a kufi, it don't mean that he bright Cause you don't understand him, it don't mean that he nice It just means you don't understand all the bullshit that he write Is it "Oochie Wally Wally" or is it "One Mic"? Is it "Black Girl Lost" or shorty owe you for ice? I've been real all my life, they confuse it with conceit Since I will not lose, they try to help him cheat But I will not lose, for even in defeat There's a valuable lesson learned, so it evens up for me

The black had kingdoms and started civilizations on almost every inch of the earth, so when the caucasasians took over the known world they rewrote history to suit themselves, not to mention our contributions to modern history. All the white man has done is unearth facts that's existed in the yester world of what the original man did like ufos and pyramids, there are technical advances that have not been discovered from the original creator of the universe and planets like how mountains were rbought up from the ground and the moons seperation from the earth

    • Jason

Actually it really doesn't mention slavery. They leave that to all the white filmmakers who want to always bring up that topic. The film touches on how great of a people blacks are, what we invented, white supremacy, and what we can do to survive and exist in today's society.

Nas is that dude! Our other rap brothers need to express their feelings on racism as well. This is why I love Nas. Dude does not care about his record sales. He always fought for his people and communities. Nas is some what like the People's Champ! The GOAT
