Wale Reportedly Leaves Roc Nation Management For 77 North Management

Wale ends his five-year relationship with Roc Nation management.

Wale is no longer managed by Roc Nation, according to XXL.

The website says a Wale representative has revealed that the rapper is going to be managed by 77 North Management, leaving behind his five-year stint with Roc Nation's management team, as reported by XXL’s Dan Rys.

The change is not a sign of a falling out with anyone at Roc Nation, the report says. Instead, the management shift is “about doing what’s best for Wale’s career,” according to Rys.

Wale is reportedly focusing on finalizing his upcoming album, The Album About Nothing. Jerry Seinfeld is set to appear on the project, as reported in 2013, when the comic spoke about his work with the rapper.

"I got the call from Wale and DJ Omega here,” says Seinfeld, whose famed television series Seinfeld inspired the album title. “They called me to come in. I had to be here. If I'm going to do this, this is the guys I'm going to do it with. And now I did it, and that's it.”

"As for Wale, I've never heard of 77 North Management so the "best interests" for Wale sound like he's separating himself. This may be the beginning of the MMG split." Separating himself? Wale been with Roc Nation since he was on Interscope but being a sports/wrestling head the move makes sense for his career. Roc Nation management seem to be going more into the POP direction with acts like Grimes, Haim, and Fiona. I see a lot more cross marketing into sports for Wale's career. LOL, the boy J. Cole is on ROC/Columbia managed by Bystorm and got his own label on Interscope! The game is crazy when you get behind the scenes of the machine.

So by your words you agree with me. He's separating himself from the MMG goon squad and "cross marketing" into sports, expanding his brand instead of MMG's profile. Like how although Cole was signed by Jay, but he doesn't have to stand next to Jay for attention, he's a separate entity.

I dont think he will rap before Wrestlemania but he already does the theme song rapping for ESPNs First Take and has been a regular guest on the show. His cross marketing campaign will most likely be the standard formula with sports related endorsements, advertisment soundtracks, and collaborative efforts with various athletes. Dont forget that Wale got a full Football scholarship to Robert Morris and played for Virginia State.

@anonymous #2 Bron got top grade management on that side, hes on his way to be a Billionaire plus I think Wale is trying to get into the sports arena duke is a former highly recruited HS athlete and he has family in athletics so it makes sense.

Guess you're not mature enough to share information or have an objective mind without getting emotional. Sorry, but I don't spend enough time on the internet to follow every celebrity's social media to know every single account of who owns what. I don't believe that "MMG UNDER GOD" because promises and allegiances are broken daily. I'm adult enough to know that. What say you? I've refrained from shredding up your comment box, let's see how mature you are right now.

You friggin idiot, he signed with Lebrons people on the management side and it has nothing to do with a split from the music side with MMG. I guess you didn't hear MMG UNDER GOD.

  • @CodyVegas

Through your desperation to get attention you failed to realize or know that Wale's relationship with Roc Nation was for management, and you don't get dropped from a management agreement, you fire management or terminate said agreement. You don't need to get rid of one rapper to manage another rapper either. With that being said, I have no wish to visit your web link/YouTube page, Roc Nation would announce thru a press conference and I already know the website to visit for that type of information. I can't take you serious when you don't know the simple basics of the recording music industry you wish to be in.

I heard Wale was dropped and Roc Nation is looking to sign Cody Vegas. The announcement is supposed to be made on www.CodyVegas.com, http://youtu.be/_yACTS033B0
