Following a strong first week in the Top 5, 50 Cent’s Animal Ambition has dropped out of the Top 10 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums this week. Still, Animal Ambition remains the top Rap album on the chart. Michael Jackson’s Xscape has the top R&B album of the week and Iggy Azalea’s The New Classic is the third best Rap or R&B effort on the chart.

Elsewhere on the chart, Murs and MAYDAY! debuted on the chart with Mursday coming in at #45. The effort sold 8,024 units in its first week of availability. Ice-T’s Body Count also debuted on the chart this week with Manslaughter. The effort sold 3,624 units to land at #102.

Michael Jackson’s Xscape Rises To #9

Michael Jackson’s Xscape appears at #9 on the list. The album came up from #12 last week. The effort sold 24,861 units this week compared to 25,358 units last week. This was a 2 percent decrease in sales. This may not be the last of the posthumous Jackson albums, according to a recent Rolling Stone report. “Michael Jackson’s estate managed to bring the late star back to life, sort of, with an unnerving onstage pseudo-hologram at May 18th’s Billboard Music Awards – and that’s just the beginning of its ambitious plans for his career, which could include as many as eight more albums culled from outtakes and repackaged material,” the Rolling Stone report says.

50 Cent’s Animal Ambition Falls To #15

50 Cent’s Animal Ambition has fallen to #15 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Animal Ambition sold 17,118 copies this week, a 63 percent decrease in sales from more than 46,600 units sold last week. Overall, 50 has sold 63,846 copies of the album. 50 Cent recently spoke on his expectations regarding sales. “I know I can’t actually have the success I’ve had in the past,” 50 Cent said. “It’s impossible…This is the warm up…I put this record out to cut through the cloud of my audience’s mind, success. Some people are not conditioned or prepared for success. And it’s an adjustment. If you leave the environment thinking the exact same way you were in the environment chances are you won’t be successful. You have to make some adjustments as you actually go. Inquiring new information. Being exposed to different situations is what allows me to continue to do it, but if you don’t do it you’ll forget about it. The people, they’re gon’ bring you back. They gonna pull you back.” This wasn’t the only 50 Cent album on the Billboard Top 200 this week. The rapper’s debut album, Get Rich Or Die Tryin’, also made the list, selling 2,229 units to come in at #199. Overall, 50 has sold 8,271,176 copies of the effort.

Iggy Azalea’s The New Classic Falls Out Of Top 20

Iggy Azalea’s The New Classic earns the #22 spot on this list. The album sold 14,781 units this week, a 16 percent decrease in sales from 17,599 units last week. Overall, The New Classic has moved 177,983 units. In October 2013, Azalea spoke with DX about the effort. “The New Classic is me trying to experiment with new sounds as much as I can in the environment that I’m in,” he said at the time. “It’s me trying to think about the sounds I hear in music now and which ones will stick around. I’m thinking about what will be the sound of our generation, Hip Hop and sampling, and Electronic music versus old Soul records and Blues music. I’m thinking about how [the term] classic can evolve throughout the eras. Look at how classic has evolved in art to the point where we have all these classic eras. I think we’ll have different eras in Hip Hop, and what’s sonically classic in this generation may be sampled 20 years from now. What if they want to re-do our sound? It’s the type of thing that makes you question why we’re so nostalgic for different eras. Why do we think other eras are so great and get stuck in this mentality of, ‘It was so great then, and what we have now is complete shit?’ I tried to think about sending a time capsule to the future with my reflection of all the things I think are the coolest now.”
