During a recent interview with Larry King, Tyler, The Creator was asked if he no longer wants to be a rapper.

“I don’t,” he says. “I don’t. I just want to compose music…”

Tyler elaborates on the matter. “I’m talented enough to do other things,” he says. “But, I don’t know. I’m pretty bored with it. It’s not interesting.

“I really want to sing,” he says, “but my tone of voice is too deep to do what I want. Now I’m just listening to Isaac Hayes and Barry White and things like that to see how they use their voice. But I hate rapping only because it puts you in this box. Like, I was scared of this interview. Me being a rapper, I was scared of the type of questions that you would probably ask me, not even on purpose, but just because I’m a rapper. And then people look at you different. ‘Oh, he’s a rapper. That doesn’t take much talent.'”
