DJ Paul says in an exclusive interview with HipHopDX that Gangsta Boo will not appear on Da Mafia 6ix’s forthcoming Watch What U Wish album, which he says will likely be released in October. The Memphis rapper-producer says that his late brother Lord Infamous will appear on the album, whose title has special significance.

“A lot of things that you want in life ain’t really what you need in life,” DJ Paul says during an exclusive interview with HipHopDX. “Everything you want in life might not be what you need, so you always got to watch what you wish for because if you keep wanting it and keep setting your goals to get it, you can get it. I don’t give a hell what it is in life. So you gotta really watch what you wish for and let things that naturally come to you.”

DJ Paul, Gangsta Boo, Crunchy Black, Lord Infamous and Koopsta Knicca are five of the six original members of Three 6 Mafia, which also includes Juicy J. The quintet assembled as Da Mafia 6ix last year while Juicy J was enjoying success as a solo artist.

In an exclusive interview with HipHopDX yesterday (May 29), DJ Paul revealed that Gangsta Boo would no longer be a member of Da Mafia 6ix. He said it was a mutual decision for her to no longer be in the group, which released its 6ix Commandments mixtape in November and launched its Triple 6ix Sinners Tour in February. The group brought Lord Infamous’ casket on tour with them. He passed away in December.

Even without Gangsta Boo, DJ Paul says that Da Mafia 6ix’s Watch What U Wish album will be “hard as hell.”

“We got some crazy shit on there,” he says. “The production, we stepped it up a level because we didn’t want to be one of those groups that’s stuck in that old sound. Even though on Da Mafia 6ix 6ix Commandments mixtape, they got the old sound in there, but it got a new flair on it. This album will be the same way. It’s still gonna have the old stuff on it, it’s still gonna be gritty and grimy, but it’ll have a taste of the newer flavor on there.”
