Nicki Minaj spoke with New York radio station Hot 97 today (May 21) and discussed her upcoming projects, as well as the “stripped down” look she wore to the Billboard Music Awards.

“I always wanted to go back to my mixtape look and I felt like, you know, this would be a good time to do it,” Nicki Minaj says during the Hot 97 interview. “I’m working on a new body of music and the music sounds more stripped. I think that stripped down look matches the music.”

Minaj donned a black Alexander McQueen dress and black hair at the Billboard Awards.

The rapper was then asked about what were labeled as her “thirst trap pictures from hell.”

“I will take like a million selfies” Nicki Minaj says, “and I’ll hate like, you know, 800,000 of them and then maybe 3 of them will be half decent and I will post those.”

Minaj was asked if music is still important to her financially. The “Yasss Bitch” rapper says that corporate sponsors value the marketability of musicians.

“Music is still my biggest source of income,” Minaj says. “If I do a Pepsi commercial and get a couple million dollars from them, it still is tied with my song. You know they still want that musical presence. These companies, they know that music is the biggest way artists connect on social media.”

Minaj told Hot 97 that she is willing to work with Remy Ma once she is released from prison this summer. According to Papoose, Ma will be released in July.

In May 2008, Remy was sentenced to eight years in prison. The rapper was charged with shooting an associate, Makeda Barnes-Joseph.

Minaj says that The Pink Print, her third studio album, will debut before the year is up.

In November, Minaj said she was working on the album.

“I already started, and I’m going home, actually tomorrow to really start,” she said. “Like, I’m taking two months to just lock in. So I’m really excited, and the people that have been working with now have been people.”
