Queens, New York native rapper, actor and pop star Nicki Minaj has been making press stops recently for her newest singlePills N Potions.” She recently got on the phone with her hometown radio station, New York’s Power 105.1 and its The Breakfast Club show.

When asked about other female rappers in the industry and why they haven’t attained the same commercial success she has, Nicki responded by saying it’s harder for a female to make it in the industry and that Hip Hop is “not female friendly.”

“I can’t really speak for anybody’s grind or how pop culture receives people,” Nicki said. “I’m not surprised because even when I was grinding and putting out tapes and stuff like that, it was hard for me. It takes a lot of work. It doesn’t just happen overnight. It’s not a female-friendly business. Hip Hop is not female friendly at all.”

Nicki Minaj was also asked about her new single and where the content matter of her verses came from.

“I’ve come across a lot of people who I’ve given amazing opportunities to, who continue to bite the hand that fed them, and I always give people enough rope to hang themselves with. In general, I think in life, I try to be super fair to everyone so when you cross me it’s just like, ‘Really? Hmmm… OK.’ It is what it is. I still love.”
