Jay Z Among "The Most Powerful People In The Art World" List By The Guardian

Jay Z joins Leonardo DiCaprio, Jeff Koons, Cindy Sherman, Damien Hirst, Isa Genzken and Mattew Barney on The Guardian's "The Most Powerful People In The Art World" list.

The Guardian has released "The Most Powerful People In The Art World," a list that features Jay Z, among others.

"As Frieze art fair opens in New York, our power primer traces the artists and dealers, celebrity collectors and oligarchs who make the art world go round," The Guardian says.

Jay Z is listed in its "The Collectors" section.

"In one video [Jay Z] rapped in front of a Takashi Murakami painting and a sculpture of Tim Noble and Sue Webster (featuring a flashing dollar sign)," The Guardian says. "His 'Picasso Baby,' filmed in Pace Gallery and featuring too many curators and artists to count, was not the art world's finest seven minutes."

Other entertainers, including Leonardo DiCaprio, also appear in the list.

The list's "The Artists" section features Jeff Koons, Cindy Sherman, Damien Hirst, Isa Genzken and Mattew Barney.

Larry Gagosian appears in the list's "The Dealers" section. Gagosian was name-checked on "That's My Bitch" off Watch The Throne

"Call Larry Gagosian," Jay raps on the track. "You belong in museums / You belong in vintage clothes, crushing the whole building."

Jay-Z is trying too hard to be like Kanye. I saw a pic of him in a leather skirt a few months ago...Really? All this guy does is bite. When Kanye was doing soul beats, he wanted the soul beats too. When Kanye starts making more "artsy" music, Jay-Z tries to copy that. Now that Kanye is doing art and fashion stuff, Jay-Z wants to be apart of it as well. "I told Jay I did a song with Coldplay/Next thing I know, he got a song with Coldplay" I guess biting and leeching off better artists is how he stays relevant. I'm not impressed

I can't front: I'm jealous of Jay Z. Magna Carta was an half assed effort. And while I'm still struggling making 6.50/hr working at KFC, he's already made $500 million. I'm not impressed.
