Jay Electronica Says Media "Crucified" Kanye West, "Yeezus"

Jay Electornica also says "Act II: Patents Of Nobility" is set to be released this year.

Jay Electronica surprised fans of KanyeToThe, a message board, with a question-and-answer session, according to HipHop-N-More. The Q&A consisted of a variety of topics, including Electronica's perspective regarding Kanye West's 2013 album, Yeezus

"i loved it, but the media crucified him and slandered him because of the content and his outspokenness on many things. Then the sheeple started saying it was wack like a mantra after a few so-called tastemakers said it. the end," Jay Electronica said.

Yeezus was given a 4.5 out of 5 in its HipHopDX review

Electronica was also asked if his upcoming album, Act II: Patents Of Nobility, is slated to be released in July, a date the rapper recently tweeted. "No sir.. but i promise you its coming this year and I'm about to heat the game up and charge the particles so high," Electronica said.

The Louisiana rapper also talked about his favorite verses during his question and answer session.

"better in tune. is my favourite verse to date. That and the one i spit on Mac Miller's album. But that one is for selfish reasons," he said.

Electronica recently had a Q&A with Twitter followers. During that session, the Louisiana emcee said he feels he has the best verse on Big Sean's "Control," a cut that also features Kendrick Lamar.

nigga please, just wake the fuck up, just because it sounds different doesn't mean it's a classic, it just means it's "different" garbage

These articles and their titles, SMH. The media per say didn't crucify Yeezus, it's the voices of raw Hip-Hop and similar purists that crucified that album, for a simple reason, it was creative,it was music, it was new but IT WAS NOT HIP-HOP!!!

I dunno, maybe it was just cause the album was garbage.

No, we didn't criticize it because we're "sheeple." It's because the album is the worst thing I've ever heard in my life. The production sounded like a jumbled mess, like he just threw random sounds together and hoped it turned out well. The lyrics were beyond terrible. Call it satire or whatever I don't care, it's still trash.

  • 614grind

People crucified Yeezus because it sounded bad, not because of the outspokenness. The so called rebellious nature of the album was approached with juvenile sensibilities so it couldn't be taken serious. Kanye didn't ruffle any feathers with Yeezus, he just made a temper tantrum in album format.

  • Johnny Blaze

is this guy retarded? every media site thought the album was great and it was in every top 10 list for 2013. On the other hand, most fans thought it was shit.....it was fuckin terrible in my opinion. and im not a kanye west hater, college dropout and late registration are too of my favorite albums of all time and he use to be one of my favorite producers, dude was unstoppable in the early 2000's. Now hes more famous for his rants and termper tantrums than he is for his music. this wannabee designer wants to be Ralph Lauren, but doesnt wanna put in the effort. he thinks the fashion industry should all msuck his dick because hes kanye

Jay Electronica is a smart and talented brother, but sometimes he just ... Anyway, lets deconstruct his fools remarks: "i loved it, but the media crucified him and slandered him because of the content and his outspokenness on many things." We can use Metacritic's Metascore to gauge media/critical response to Yeezus to determine whether or not "the media" crucified Kanye. Metacritic curates a large group of the worlds most respected critics, assigns scores to their reviews, and applies a weighted average to summarize the range of their opinions. The result is a number that captures the essence of critical opinion in one Metascore. Metascores range from 0-100; higher scores indicate better media and critical reception. Scores that fall between 81 - 100 indicate universal acclaim. Yeezus currently has a Metascore of 84 out of 100 averaged from 46 critics on Metacritic, indicating universal acclaim. Universal acclaim among critics (media) hardly resembles a crucifixion. "Then the sheeple started saying it was wack like a mantra after a few so-called tastemakers said it. the end,"" Yeezus has a user rated Metascore of 7.5, indicating generally favorable reviews based on 915 user submitted ratings. Assuming Metascore accurately gauges fan (people or sheeple as Jay Electronica said) it appears that most people like the album; the "sheeple" don't seem to think it's wack. Using the term sheeple in the context/setting of his remarks, then ending his remarks with "the end" tells me that Jay Electronica cannot back up his remarks.

Yeezus was genius by a artistic view, Just not true hip hop. Most of you people need that dumb it down trap music. Fucking Sheep

    • Anonymous

The Cd was nice, too far ahead. They will catch up like 808 had too. Now you got slow minded hiphop heads now, blood on the leaves was ill. The sound was sick...hiphop has lost the art of hiphop. Grafitti writers like Basquiat was art and Hiphop. So to hear a Drake call art and hiphop is corny tells you how slow the art has become. Bansky is hiphop Yeezus is hiphop..it is to dare to sound different then the rest. Trap music is now I am a Drug addict music, its cool to be addicted to syrup and molly now. So it make sense that Yeezu is not hot.

sorry that shit was trash and i dont like that dumbed down trap stuff

"Sheeple." Fucking hell. Jay was a lot better before he started opening his mouth and being drunk on twitter. Next single's gonna be called "Joe Rogan" and it's gonna be a bunch of alternative buzzwords. Also yeezus sucked, don't act like it's some fault of the public or a conspiracy.

Jay Electronica is irrelevant why do people care about him dude is nearly 50 years old with no album or anything and he seems very arrogant like his opinion matters

  • Samwise G

Just got really into Jay's music but I just didn't enjoy Yeezus from my independent perspective on it. I would guess this goes for a lot of people who didn't enjoy it.
