Since his release from prison, the talk surrounding Lil Boosie’s upcoming tour and pending album release has been heavy.

Recently sitting down with 105.1’s The Breakfast Club, the Louisiana native talked about being compared to Tupac. When asked about the comparison, particularly regarding the passion in each’s music, Boosie said the two are different but he can understand it.

“I feel Tupac [is] Tupac and Boosie [is] Boosie,” he said. “I think people do that because we both have heart-felt music that touch people heart, we both have similarities. I guess we both got in trouble too but I just feel it’s real music and a pleasure to be given that credit but Tupac [is] Tupac and Boosie [is] Boosie.”

Boosie was also asked about current Hip Hop and the changes he’s seen in it since going to prison.

“It’s trendy,” he said. “If one person make a song it sounds like this so another artist is going to try to make a song like that. A lot of what I hear is a lot of the same music, not the same music but the same tone, the same flow and I just feel like the music I make put me in my own lane.”

Interestingly, Boosie also mentioned that he doesn’t listen to other people’s music and regarded that when one does hear other’s music, “you’ll lean to making that sound.”
