YG, DJ Mustard & Ty Dolla $ign Reportedly Forming Record Label

YG also addresses comparisons with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg.

YG says he has a label situation brewing that will involve DJ Mustard and Ty Dolla $ign.

"Me, Mustard and Ty got a label," YG says in an interview with Houston, Texas radio station 93.7. "We got a little situation going on. We got a situation that's about to occur. Pushaz Ink the label. Ty own part of it, Mustard own part of it, I own part of it. So you know it's about to get real."

YG also addressed his friendship with DJ Mustard and how that has been compared to the Snoop Dogg/Dr. Dre bond when asked about it by host DeviDev.

"That's a blessing", YG says. "I get why they lookin' at us like that. You feel me? Like, it's the music, but at the same time, when Snoop and Dre was coming up, they was homies and me and Mustard is homies, too. When I go on my tour, Mustard the deejay. This is like a movement and people see that, so that's part of the reason why they saying we the new Snoop and Dre. And we got the music too. Snoop actually said it himself."

DJ Mustard is one of the people comparing the duo to Snoop and Dre. Recently, Mustard made the comparison when discussing My Krazy Life.

"Like [Dr. Dre's] The Chronic, really," Mustard says of the album which earned a 3 out of 5 in its HipHopDX review. "For sure. It’s like our generation of The Chronic, you know what I’m saying? This is Snoop [Dogg] and [Dr.] Dre all over again."

Recently, Mustard also spoke with HipHopDX about his bond with YG

“That’s one of my best friends,” DJ Mustard says. “I know what he don’t like, what he like. I know everything, like he know about me. I used to live with him. I slept in his garage.”

And that's why Rick Ross will always be a top tier rapper in the industry. He's much more low key, classy, and doesn't pull ridiculous publicity stunts like the one pictured above. Name another rapper who: 1)has 6 number one albums 2)wins a feud with a formerly famous Queens rapper. 3)crashes his whip into a building and come out unscathed 4)owns a multimillion dollar restaurant franchise 5)was voted MTV's hottest emcee twice. 6)cancels his shows because gang members have the gall to threaten him because they're afraid of the harm he'll bring them

Record Labels are played out like Jerry Curls. Record Companies on the other hand is different. U sign someone to ur label, but u wait for any of the other labels under either Universal,Sony,Warner or any other major label to fund the album-and they will but they own the masters, as a label u probably get $0.95 cents per album for any of ur artist on the label. Now dont get me wrong.Major labels play a vital role and have a far more reach in terms of budget n distribution but for 4uck sake if u are gonna do anywhere from 0-50k first week u might as well hv sold that shit from ur trunk coz u sure aint making no money on a major label selling that low. The way forward,Press(if necessary) & Distribute ur own shit. Its all digital nowadays anyway right? who needs truck loads of CDs for nation wide distribution? U might not do Jay-Z or Eminem's numbers but if u gonna be sellng 0-50k first week atleast u know a large part of the $$$$ is coming to ur pocket n u own ur masters.I see no reason why YG,Tyga,F.Motanna,Curtis Jackson....the list goes on are signed to major labels. If ur sales are low do it Indie.

This is the next death row records right here. No aftermath bullshit. Just hip-hop that captures the spirit of the death row days. Artists release their albums at any point they want too and not held up like dre for detox.

  • drizzy!

Wack Ass Records (W.A.R.) would be a good name.
