Tony Yayo On G-Unit: "I Made That Brand"

Tony Yayo responds to recent 50 Cent comments about his career.

When 50 Cent was discussing Tony Yayo and Lloyd Banks in March, the G-Unit leader said "some people, they're like milk. They have expiration dates." Tony Yayo responded to these comments today (April 16) with a Twitter update.

"As much bullets I took for Gunit. My moms crib shot up almost killed my sis and my niece. Now I'm compared to milk. I made that brand," Tony Yayo says.

During the March interview, which was conducted by New York radio station Power 105, 50 Cent also addressed Yayo specifically. “I’ve done a lot for him to the point that being personable with people they’ll feel like that homeboy code, guy code type of energy,” 50 Cent said. "They’ll be like, ‘You know what? You got it so you should give it to me,’ versus what makes sense. If you don’t sustain your value in the marketplace, I got to pay you the market rate."

50 Cent and Tony Yayo have gone back and forth several times. In February, Yayo said "50 ain't rockin' with me" in a social media comment. 50 responded with the following statement to Billboard

"I had a wonderful journey with the people I grew up with," 50 Cent said of G-Unit. "I think the frustration comes from shock, probably, that it's not everything they wanted it to be. [Tony Yayo] of all people… It's not a secret. It's a known fact that he actually came home from jail with a million dollars and a Bentley. Like, ‘What do you want?' These guys are millionaires. They've made millions of dollars. Why do that then? Whenever there's no one to blame, you know what game you play, [for] a look. I don't know what the goal was."

Yayo's most recent Twitter post is below.

"Made that brand"??? Get over yourself, bro. Tony Yayo always was and forever will be garbage on the mic. I really think the only reason dude was even allowed to eat off of the G-Unit plate was a loyalty situation. As far as shit that went down in the streets, Yayo seems to be an incredibly loyal individual. With that said, he had no business ever being let anywhere near a microphone. To say that he "built" the G-Unit brand is rather preposterous. NOBODY, and mean NOBODY is awaiting a Tony Yayo sophomore solo LP. I always figure that the only reason he was ever given the chance to get on was a loyalty/brotherhood type thing.

"what are their best interests?" Their career path. Their opportunities other than music. The G Unit dynasty was short, but 50 had other ventures to fall back on. His buddies didn't, and he should shield some of the blame for that.

    • Anonymous

sometimes as a man you gotta take responsibility for your own life and the path you go down, if im with a nigga whos getting money im gonna ask him how he doing it so i can do the same,

"Bang Em Smurf made G-unit but 50 betrayed him and turned his back on him." Nikka please. It's widely known that Bang Em Smurf was nothing but 50's weed carrier.

For those who don't understand, and who are calling 50 "disloyal", to sum up everything. He's tired of putting in the work for them. He made everyone in G-Unit HUGE, enough for them to branch off and capitalize off that buzz, away from the shadow of 50 Cent. He did what a homeboy was supposed to do, he put them on, set them up to win! But they didn't grind hard enough. They started looking at 50 for money like "he got it, so I don't need to hustle no more" NO! That's not how it works. 50 got tired of them eating off of him, got tired of doing things for them. So he cut 'Em off, like if you don't want it bad enough to get it yourself, I'm not gon give it to you either. They could ALL be where 50 is right now if they woulda worked hard enough, stayed consistent etc. simple as that.

    • Anonymous

Agreed 100% with the OP. Banks was the only one who worked hard from the rest of the Unit, but he can't promote himself for shit. His mixtape game is so legit, yet no buzz besides one hit song in every 10 years. Which is not a problem if he's satisfied with it, but Banks should be much higher than he is.

a lot of these clowns don't have friends or a family they interact with, so when they discuss topics like this they can't speak from experience and can't understand it because they never went thru it you don't need to be a 50 fan to see that type of mentality in the comments

  • Anonymous

bitches talk that disloyal shit like 50 the only one to fall out with his crew. wheres the original cash money at? all got fucked over and left. where dame dash and the rest of the roc?

nigga did 50 ask u to slap a 14 year old kid? that shit brought negative publicity and police. a nigga supposed to shoot your house up and yo mommas for slappin his kid. u got off easy for that u ask me. 50 shouldnt be airing them out. but if its the truth its the truth. we know all their names and they all rode his wave. but they didnt show his grind. if 50 fell off right now he cant go to yayo or banks for bread. but jay can go kanye. and jay aint put kanye on like 50 put buck game banks and yayo on. kanye made himself. he made them beats and them hot songs and kept hustling. they lived off touring with 50. still aint shot no videos though he been saying it to them for like 3 years. spoil like milk. he didnt mean to say the expire shit, consistently he said he spoiled them. how they didnt have managers and shit. yayo u dont wont 50 mad at u , u know he all u got and if u cross him he wont everr forgive u or give a fuck about u. u better eat them lil words dont let twitter get u fucked up by yo big bra. u remember how many jaws he broke on guy brew

Any of you faggots on here ridin wit 5.0 are some lame ass niggas. Real street niggas don't turn they back on they boys. Yayo was a huge part of this movement. Look at 5.0 now, no one ridin wit this snitch ass nigga who only care about the almighty dollar and what the white man gon get. That nigga has fucked over Banks, Yayo and anyone else. No real nigga rides for 5.0 no more. Fact is his boys are revealing who curtis jackson really is, a fake ass snitch nigga who can't release a hot song. Bawse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Chitown J

I understand 50's point when he states that none of these guys were broke and he helped them make millions. The problem is that 50 is too immature and says things that are absolutely out of line. If he is so done with G-Unit then why keep discussing? Move on already. Yayo is right 50 is a disrespectful bastard.

"Look at Gunplay he has been at Ross side since 1998 and never dropped an album and he still isn't complaining or shitting on his Boss all over social media like a spoiled brat." He's a junkie who knows he can't do any better. Ross pays him enough to get high and not complain about having no career or future.

    • Anonymous

" so when 50 snitched on him in his song about him smacking kids Yayo had to fire back." "on the phone i heard yay smacked the shit outta kid" how is that snitching if yayo already went to court and caught a case for that

    • Anonymous

Tony Yayo is a good man, he knows that he is supposed to diss 50 because 50 is a bitch and he knows 50 personally so when 50 snitched on him in his song about him smacking kids Yayo had to fire back. Look at Gunplay he has been at Ross side since 1998 and never dropped an album and he still isn't complaining or shitting on his Boss all over social media like a spoiled brat.

    • Anonymous

we talking about tony yayo. he didnt even deserve to get that 1 album out and a lot of niggas aint even get that. look at Gunplay, he 35 and still waiting by Ross side since 1998 for a release date for his first album.

I see Yayo did'nt read 50's book (The 50th Law) everything that's on this article, 50 talked about in his book years ago.

  • JD

The only reason G Unit was relevant was because of 50. The same goes for D12 w/ Eminem.

Making songs with Young Buck isn't going to help anything.

    • Anonymous

At one time it did. Buck was a platinum artist. He should have been coached more on how to be an all around artist.

  • Anonymous

cosign they're falling for this back and forth between childhood friends

  • Anonymous

Tony Yayo lives in a house worth 1.5 million dollars that he got off his minimal rap skills. He needs to just shut up and be happy with what he got and hope to get back in with 50.

  • drizzy!

Made that brand? This nigga can't even make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich!

  • TRE

Lmao this nigga was in jail when they were popping and they were dying out when he came out. He didnt make shit.

  • Anonymous

Yayo and Banks never learned what it takes to grind hard and build yourself up from nothing. They came in riding 50's coat tails.

  • Anonymous

Not one of use knows the business practices of G-Unit and who did what. All your OPINIONS are pure SPECULATION. Stop acting like they're facts

    • Anonymous

      ...You are a Smart Person!!!...Peace!!!...

    • Anonymous

what we do know is there is no market for tony yayo as an artist in 2014 so it makes no sense to keep paying him. yayo should be happy he got as much as he did out of g-unit.

  • Not Impressed

But yet he still appears in 50 Cent's recent music videos....? If you have no respect for yourself, you get treated like a hoe, bottom line. This dude doesn't give a shit about 50 Cent or G-Unit. He only hangs around and dick rides hoping he can get something from it. Then when 50 screws him over and tell's him he's not getting shit, he cries and moans. He did this to himself. 50 Cent was always shitting on him and Banks, but he just ate that because of the money. He's only complaining now because he's not getting anything. I hope he is able to have some success, though...No more albums, no more labels, no hits to tour off of...Good luck. I'm not impressed

  • Not Rich & Still Tryin'

Smarten up, Yayo. You're falling for 50's tricknology.

    • Anonymous

but what can he do if he smartens up? lol it ain't like nigga gon just rip his contract with 50, sign with somebody and become an overnight star

    • Anonymous

in this interview 50 said yayo is only in 4 out of 13 new vids i saw him in funeral, hustler, hold on and maybe don't worry bout it

    • Anonymous

The G Unit will pull the ultimate sike on people when an album drops. This is a new way of marketing. Keep em guessing. Remember I said it first! Yayo, is in almost all of 50's new videos. Thats the give away.

Curtis Jackson is the worst leader of a crew.If everyone, I mean EVERYONE that has ever worked with you has a problem with you? Then maybe you are the problem. You cant tell me that The Game,Young Buck, Banks, Yayo, Smurf, Trav, Mayweather, Jimmy Iovine, Dr Dre, Slim the Mobster all had problems with Curtis based on their respective faults. I doubt it. There is something that Curtis is doing to make himself difficult to work it. Do get me wrong it could be legit-atleast as Curtis sees it. He has got money and everyone else tryna ask me for money or Just bcos i put u on the game u have to kiss my ass and worship me until u die-attitude. It does work like that. Dr put snoop on but snoop was signed to No Limit. When u put people on History knows and would never forget. They dont hv to beef wit everyone u beef with. Dre got issue with Suge yet snoop took pics with Suge in the club a few months back. Dre n Snoop still cool. Curtis needs to learn to be humble.

    • Anonymous

snoop went to no limit cuz dre couldnt do anything for him. that was back when he was super scared of suge and so was snoop. p and them no and richmond cali boys protected snoop. what other crew we seen in music not fall out because of $? this is the only one where everybody made millions and ate. buck got on drugs wasnt paying his taxes then started saying f guint cuz khaled wouldnt spin his records! thats unloyal! i remeber buck was with utp broke juve was stuck fighting cash$! game unloyal! couldnt get a album out look at dre history, slim, rakim, hitman, bishop, eve, ortiz etc. 50 kept it too real with these niggas. in the hood he wouldve put em on ice for them not being loyal. that shit yayo been tweeting is unloyal. where yo videos at, where banks videos at, yaull sold millions of records, whats the name of yaull label, yaull artist what tour yaull got or how many shows yaull doing a month, how many features yaull doing. yaull been on diamond albums and multi platinum albums. they should be bigger this the internet indie age of the game and they been stagnant. with all that promo they got from back in the days they should be winning right now! but they not hustlers like 50! he spolied them their like his kids the facts show that!

    • Anonymous

Trav never worked with that nigga he was a weed carrier.

  • Anonymous

Em pulled you chimps out the gutter and without him you would be in the sewar selling drugs to your own Mum for money.

    • Anonymous

nigga em signed 50 to make $! he made more $ off 50 then he made off himself. em first contract wasnt that good! and he was signed to a production deal! em signed 50 cuz he was hot in the street the hottest! and the whole game is using his formula! and guess whos back made money and 50 was writing for puff daddy. em made a business decision not no charity case. u sound young and out of touch with reality. he wouldnt have signed him if it wasnt profitable look at stat quo creek water, and others 50 made that man millions! cuz he was already worth millions 50 had a buzz before eminem heard of him! 50 a hustler and he capiltalized ona opportunity. thats what real hustlers do!

    • Anonymous

not if the black people who go to college and get jobs try to hide that part of their past to instead glamorize the street life when they never lived it

Yesterday on Hot 97 50 said Tony Yayo isn't broke but he's broke compared to him.

  • THE REAL TRUTH!!!

Ja rule shot that house up. Ja rule made g unit, just so he could destroy them now by makin them dude bicker with each other. Ja rule is 50 cent's father. 50's kids are actually Ja rule's but 50 aint know that, but he keeps feedin em! Ja Rule funded the downfall of g unit. ja rule paid eminem to under perform on 50's records, that's why "my life" flopped. More recent events: Ja rule has been plottin the master plan in jail which consists of: Bribing Yayo and Banks, makin them think they're gonna fuck ashanti, but eventually he fucked em over, now they broke and he pistol whipped them. Buck apologized to Ja rule, but ja rule aint about that weak shit, so he had to pistol whip him too. Ja rule pistol whipped jimmy so 50 could get dropped from the label. Ja rule pistol whipped Dre, that's why his beats are so whack now. Ja rule pistol whipped Dre and told him he'll put a shank up his ass if he tries to release DETOX. Ja rule made a shiv. Ja rule gonna kill any bitch made nigga with that shiv (who tries to front). Ja rule history: Ja rule invented rap back in 1975. Ja rule invented all rapping styles. Ja rule made all the first beats. ja rule introduced all the first rappers. Ja rule built defjam. ja rule crushed the rap game at the end.

You should have funded that brand. Plus you slapped a dudes child that which the end result was your mothers house being shot up dumb ass. smh.

    • POPE

I could say a smart remark like "were you there", but it makes sense being that he was killed. yayo was there and that is just as bad int he hood. He doesnt have to make it seem like that was 50 fault tho. I could also see him bringing them out at summer jam. this is the perfect situation for all of them to be able to put out as much music as possible on the new label deal.

    • Anonymous

It wasnt even him who smacked the kid, it was Lodi Mack. Yayo tried to stop him.
