Timbaland is slated to be the lead producer on Michael Jackson’s forthcoming Xscape album, according to Rolling Stone

The album from the late singer, who passed away in 2009, is scheduled for a May 13 release. “Xscape” is the name of one of the collection’s cuts.

It is slated to feature eight previously unreleased songs that has been “contemporized,” according to L.A. Reid, chairman and CEO of Epic Records, which will release the collection.

The deluxe edition of the album is slated to include the original version of the songs.

“Michael left behind some musical performances that we take great pride in presenting through the vision of music producers that he either worked directly with or expressed strong desire to work with,” Reid says in a statement, per Rolling Stone. “We are extremely proud and honored to present this music to the world.”

In August, Timbaland discussed his work on the Jackson album.  The Virginia producer he said he spoke to Reid in regards to the project and promised “something big.”
