Tomorrow (March 16), the NCAA will announce the 65 participants in the 2014 men’s basketball tournament. Money will be wagered, brackets will be filled and fans will watch the nation’s top teams play in single-elimination games until a champion in crowned at the conclusion of the final game on April 7.

In the meantime, Freddie Gibbs has his eyes on a handful of NBA prospects. “I like Julius Randle,” Gibbs says in an exclusive interview with HipHopDX, in regard to the University of Kentucky freshman forward currently averaging 15.4 points per game.

Freddie Gibbs also shared some strong opinions about Kansas University wing player Andrew Wiggins, who began the year as the prohibitive favorite to win the Wooden Award. “I definitely think Andrew Wiggins is overrated like a motherfucker,” Gibbs said. “He’s a good athlete, but when it’s draft time, I don’t know. I wouldn’t spend my money on him right now, because he looks like an NBA bench player to me. But shit, anybody can improve. He can be like Clyde Drexler if he improves. I like [C.J.] Fair from Syracuse, and I’m definitely fuckin’ with [Duke Forward] Jabari Parker. Jabari Parker is the shit, so I definitely gotta fuck with him. There’s a couple guys that got it right now, but I think Jabari Parker’s gonna have the biggest impact in the NBA.”

ESPN’s Chad Ford currently has Parker rated as the country’s third-best NBA prospect behind Kansas University center Joel Embiid and Wiggins. Despite Gibbs’ favorite NBA team—the Chicago Bulls—making a late push for higher playoff seeding, Freddie sees a scenario that could bring Parker to his team of choice.

“I was hoping the Bulls would fuck up and tank so we can get Jabari,” Gibbs said. “We need to trade somebody to get that pick. If we put Jabari Parker with Derrick Rose? The Bulls are already talking about getting [Knicks forward] Carmelo [Anthony], you might as well get Jabari Parker, he’s the younger version of Carmelo.”
