In September, ScHoolboy Q discussed the theme of the album. “This album is about me taking care of my daughter and Crip history from 1969 to present,” Q said at the time.

In June, ScHoolboy Q spoke with HipHopDX about fatherhood.

“She’s been knowing [this] since she was born,” ScHoolboy Q said in an exclusive interview with HipHopDX at the time. “Every time I walk out the house, she asks, ‘Where you going, the studio?’ It’s the first thing she say. She don’t say, ‘You ‘bout to go with the homies? You ‘bout to get some weed?’ She say, ‘Where you ‘bout to go, the studio?’ I’m kind of proud of that.”

UPDATE: Top Dawg Ent. president Dave Free announced updated numbers for ScHoolboy Q’s Oxymoron’s pre-sale figures. Oxymoron is “almost at” 35,000 pre-orders, according to the February 22 Twitter post by Dave Free, who goes by @miyatola on the social media platform. ScHoolboy Q ReTweeted Free’s updated pre-sale numbers to his followers.

Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith, who made the initial Twitter post regarding pre-orders, said at the time that 35,000 was a goal that the imprint was eyeing. While Tiffith did not update the sales figures, he commented on his role in TDE’s partnership with Interscope. His most recent Twitter post regarding this subject says, “nothin happens wit artist until i push da button. albums get dates & drop when i say so. interscope is my partner but i call all shots!”
